Spitsbergen Adventure Cruise

Experience Spitsbergen 's wild and beautiful northwesterly coast onboard the former coastal steamer MS "Nordstjernen". Let yourself be taken in by the mighty summits and calving glaciers.
Spitsbergen is Svalbard 's largest island and due to the Gulf Stream the 400 km long western coastline is rich on animal and plant life. The island received its name from the Dutchman Willem Barents who, in 1596, touched land on the rugged mountainous northwesterly tip of the island.

Spitsbergen Expedition Cruise
- MV "Polar Star"
During an intense week you will experience Svalbard's spectacular nature and animal life. In MV "Polar Star" we set sail for the northern and eastern parts of Svalbard, where the silence is overwhelming and the landscape grand in it's solitude.
The final program depends on the ice and weather conditions and will continually be reviewed during the trip. Normally we will try to circum sail Spitsbergen. We will more than likely see whales, walruses and polar bears in their natural habitat.
The leader of the expedition will share his/her knowledge of animal life, Arctic conditions and history with us. You will see old hunting cabins and other traces of the harsh and ruthless polar lifestyle. We will go ashore once or twice a day.

Spitsbergen Ultimate Trekking - included Spitsbergen Adventure Cruise
For 12 days we explore some of Svalbard's most magnificent mountain areas. We walk among high climbing peaks and on mighty glaciers as well as stroll along the beach. This trip is combined with "Spitsbergen Adventure Cruise".
The trip is suitable for everyone who likes walking in the mountains.
Forget heavy back-packs and sore shoulders, from Raudfjord camp and Blomstrand

Spitsbergen Newton Expedition - 2006 April, 15 - May, 7
A fifteen days long expedition to Svalbard’s highest mountain, Newtontoppen, 1.713m. We ski across vast glaciers in the heart of Spitsbergen and among the untamed peaks mountain ranges we experience the hardships and joys of camping life.
One of the most beautiful things you can imagine is late winter on Svalbard . Both in April and May the climate and conditions for skiing trips in the untouched mountain areas are at their best. The weather is good, it is not too cold and it is always light.

Spitsbergen Winter Safari
A four-day snowmobile journey across glaciers and icy fjords, miles away from civilisation. The daylight is constant and in Svalbard 's enormous white landscape we become very small. If the weather is good we will head for the east coast and if we are lucky we will see Polar bears on the pack ice.

Spitsbergen Dogsled Safari
In this three-day trip with dogsleds in the Tempelfjord the dogs lead us through valleys, over frozen fjords and snowcovered glaciers in complete scilence.
There is a long tradition of using Polar dogs to pull sleds on Svalbard , and traveling on dogsleds is the classic means of transportation in the Arctic . Up until the mid-1960s, dogsledding was in fact the only means of transportation in this region. In collaboration with Svalbard Villmarkssenter, we offer a five-day tour program, where three days are spent in the wilderness.

Spitsbergen Ski Expedition
Enjoy a unique skiing adventure in a spectacular glacier landscape between the Raudfjord, Magdelenefjord and Kongsfjord. Ski night or day under the midnight sun. This trip is combined with a Svalbard Adventure Cruise.

Polar Night Safari
Once the snow has settled in December or January, we can go for exciting snowmobile trips in Longyearbyen's surrounding area.
The stars and the moonlight throw shadows in the polar night giving you an atmospheric experience. On a clear night it is not unusual to see the northern light. The reindeer kick the snow looking for food and the fox tiptoes around in the dark.
We stop to absorb the impressions whilst the guide serves hot drinks and biscuits.
Duration: 4 hrs.
